Karen has worked as a paediatric occupational therapist for over 20 years within the areas of community paediatrics, CAMHS and the Neurodevelopmental assessment team.
During this time, she has gained extensive experience of working with children of all ages with a diverse range of mild and complex difficulties including cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, developmental delay, developmental coordination disorder, dyspraxia, sensory regulation difficulties and emotional and anxiety difficulties.

Karen is experienced in using a variety of standardised assessments such as the; ADOS, Movement ABC, Beery Visual Motor Integration, Bruininks –Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency, Development Test of Visual Perception, Sensory Profile and Detailed Assessment of Handwriting. As an occupational therapist, Karen works with young people to help them manage their sensory differences, reduce their anxiety, build self-esteem, improve emotional regulation, increase participation and to establish and maintain a balanced routine.
Karen can provide Let's Introduce Anxiety Management (LIAM) and Brief Behavioural Activation (BBA) interventions for children and young people. Karen is also a trained sleep counsellor. Karen is passionate about working with young people to help them overcome barriers impacting on their ability to carry out their activities of daily living. Karen works collaboratively with families to educate, enable and empower them to support their children to achieve their full potential and maximise their independence.
